One of Iceland's most photogenic falls, dropping 60 metres off a former sea cliff — with a path that leads right behind the curtain of water. A short stop on the south coast, best at golden hour when the light comes through the spray.
Right off the Ring Road, Seljalandsfoss is famous for the path that loops behind the falling water — bring a waterproof and expect to get misted. Come early or late to beat the tour buses, and pair it with the hidden Gljúfrabúi falls tucked in the gorge just a few minutes’ walk north. The behind-the-falls path closes when it ices over, so check conditions in the shoulder seasons.
