Three days is enough for a proper first taste of the Faroes if you base yourself once and let the tunnels do the work. This is the exact route we’d send our own family on — short drives, one comfortable base in Tórshavn, and the two or three scenes you came for. Adjust the pace with the Concierge, then book the flights, car, and room from one place.

Day by day

The route

  1. Day 1

Land, settle, and slow down in Tórshavn

Pick up the car, drop bags at your base above town, and let the kids run the old harbour at Tinganes. Keep day one light — the Faroes reward an unhurried pace, and the weather turns four times before lunch.

Stay: Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands
  2. Day 2

    The floating lake & Bøsdalafossur

Drive to Vágar for the islands' famous optical-illusion hike — Lake Leitisvatn hanging above the sea — out to the Bøsdalafossur waterfall. A stroller-friendly start, a big-payoff viewpoint, and back for a hot dinner.

  3. Day 3

    Grass roofs & sea cliffs

Loop north to Saksun's turf-roofed hamlet and the tiny harbour at Gjógv, where a natural gorge cuts to the ocean. Undersea tunnels make the whole archipelago a series of easy day trips from one base.
